Regulated entities are now obligated to uncover and verify the real owners of companies at the point of onboarding, who often sit behind a web of complex ownership structures, offshore entities and trust arrangements.
Despite initial promising signs, universal access to public beneficial ownership declarations seems a long way off, leaving analysts to manually unpick ownership structures to verify ultimate owners.
However, doing so is a complex and time-consuming process, which Kyckr's research has shown can often take regulated entities 5-10 hours of desk work per case. This can lead to inefficiency, increased cost and crucially, customer friction.
